I have orderd some goodies for the tandem rebuild and today was the day that some the orderd items came in.
New handles, they are cork and have a classic look.
5 meters white outer cable for brakes and gears
And the master pieces of today, two brand new sadles!!
I thought I'd share some plan I had with all of you!
I think they will look good to the bike |

Nice. Brooks just makes great saddles, I've got a Swift on my Gitane and a B17 on my trekking bike. I've never had problems with them (except that as a rookie I maintained my first one to death by greasing the leather repeatedly; it just grew longer and longer until the thread was at its end...) and they feel like they are made for my bum.
The white outer cable sure looks good, but will it stay white for long? Nevertheless a new outer is worth it, I replaced my old ones with modern type ones and the break response has improved considerably.
Keep posting, projects are always interesting to track.

Michael,
It looks like you will end up with a beautiful bike when finished. Keep us posted.

Thanks guys!
Looking forward to putting everything on the bike.
LOL Chaironea, I will keep that in kind not to polish and maintain the saddle's to often
I have no idea if the cables stay white, I have seen racers before with white cables wand they looked oke (from a distance haha).
We'll see how they look in time, I am sure that braking and shifting will improve since it is all new!
I think they look "retro" but still in doubt if the will look nice on the bike.
I can always chance to black ones. |

You won't have any problem with the cable housing. It will look great for years. And there was plenty of white cable housing around when this bike was built: Mafac brakesets came standard with white cable housing. |

Oke, good to hear I'm not messing to much with the originality here!
Tonight I had a first look at all the brake components and shifters.
There's well over 30 years of durt on it!
I am cleaning like crzay here night after night lol.
I will post some pics when the pieces are clean. |
