I see from time to time classic Gitanes with Huret honeycomb dropouts branded as Helyett, a company that Gitane bought in the 60's.

Do you know if these are commemorative models of some sort offered in particular years, or just a parallel line of bikes with different decals? Do they have any special value or characteristic?

I suspect that there were two reasons for Gitane selling bikes branded Helyett.

The first was to gain larger market share but selling to to may more bike shops.

Motobecane did that withe their Motoconfort brand and Astra brand bike in the US.

The second was to cash in on the Helyett brand.
