Nicolas,

No probs., this sounds great. So there's more time for more questions?

Thanks again

That's cool Nicolas. I wouldn't want to disturb the Badger's Christmas break either. Did you see what he did to the guy who jumped on the podium at the Tour Shocked ? Don't mess with the Badger Mad ! It's as true today as it was in 85 Cool !

I already asked Bernard about the bike deal at "La Vie Claire".

In fact, he had planned to have the "Arc en Ciel 80" in 84 and "Hinault" bikes in 85 made by Gitane BUT the deal was cancelled.

in fact, those bikes were made by Motobécane and painted by a guy in Lyon.

Which means that Hinault, LeMond and Roche rode the same bikes when they reached the 1985 Tour top 3.

When Look arrived, it was all made by Look, it seems.

I asked Paul Köchli and he said that the Steel Look Frames with LVC decals where made by Gitane and outside by a specialist.

Nicolas - fantastic job. I've already sent a link to three other people I know who because it's such a good read.

Now, that's quite an interview. I read it twice I enjoyed it so much. Going back for a third soon.

Really special work there Nicolas.

Nicolas, thank you very much indeed for making this happen and of course to Bernard Hinault. A big thank you to you both.

Thanks Stephan for allowing this to be published on the main site.

This has got my weekend off to a super start.

Just great.

Tim

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Please keep in mind that what made interview special is YOUR questions.

I'm just a passenger...and I ride, and I ride....

Thanks Troy for the Koechli input, as we've seen, the badger is not that much interested in the machines themselves, we might get more data from other sources.

Nicolas,

That interview was really interesting.

Any chance you'l be talking with Hinault again? I have his TdF winning Gitane Profil, and could send photos for authentification. The bike has an interesting history, a large insurance company (AGF) had a competition at the end of the Tour (recognising the shadows/silhouetes of famous riders) and the prize was Hinault's bike. I have a photo of Hinault handing the bike over at the official prize-giving to the ex-owner (I bought the bike last year).
Does Bernard remember this?
The paint has been touched in on one side, apparently this light damage occured when the bike ran into a straw bale on one of the stages. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Alex
