Hey Jay.

You commented positively on my repaint, but I can see that this bike's paint is as lusty as when it was new.

I tried for several months to do without the third (centre) cable clamp on the top tube, but all I achieved was some scuffs and some ringing of the top tube as the cable bounced at every little bump. I am encouraged that your bike has three clamps, even though I had to break up the expanse of crisp new paint by adding the extra.

I bet you are happy with your results. Well done.

Owen,
Thank you for your comments. I have to admit, I am very pleased with the finished result. It took a year to find everything I wanted to complete it. Several times I changed my mind, or made mistakes, as to how it was going to end up which resulted in spending more money than I intended. The research and patience were the keys to getting it Period Correct.

The Bike has spent its entire life stored indoors which kept paint abuse to a minimum. It was my means of transportation in College but sat idle for years in the spare bedroom until my renewed interest in getting back on the road with two wheels.

Jay

I got these Toe Clip protectors recently. I had never seen them before. I believe they post date the Bike but the color is so close I had to use them. They are made by Christophe also.

Details make the bike! Those look really cool on there, and hightlight the blue on the bike itself.

While the "devil is in the details"...so are the angels!

I was able to find the Protectors listed in a 1974 Catalog (they were introduced at the 1973 Paris Bike Show) so they actually post date the bike but not by much. I'll consider it a proper addition/detail.

Over the past few Months I have been able to acquire some items that I have wanted for this Bike.

1. CH PELISSIER alloy Tire Savers (NOS) and SIMPLEX Binder Bolt (NOS).

2. LYOTARD No. 23, Berthet Pedals, French thread, early Logo dust caps and correct for the Period (NOS).

Those tire savers rock. I wonder why no one uses those anymore. Instead, when I ride in the group, you see everyone immediately put their hands on their tires after running through glass or assorted debris....
