hi
first time poster. i wanted to add pic of my bike i built back in the day. i bought the frame in 84 when i was 14 years old. i piecemeal the component group and nothing really special ( i was 14 and didn't have much money ) but its got :
shimano dura-ace headset and front derailleur
shimano 600 rear derailleur
ofmega mistral cranks
look pedals
weinmann brakes
she cleaned up pretty well this last weekend and i'm thinking after giving her a tune up i'll take her out for spin around the lake.
anybody know if one can still bye shoes and cleats for those old look pedals?
thanks
-dave

Nice bike, Dave. You'll love the ride when you get it back on the road. And, yes you can get cleats for those pedals. I have two sets of the white Look.
I ordered some Nashbar look style pedals last fall and the red cleats that came with them fit these old Look pedals perfectly. The shoes just need to have the option for the three holes on the cleats. |

By the way, Dave, I've been told Look Keo cleats won't work with older pedals. The standard cleats will, though.

Dave,
Nice bike and a super job as a 14 year old. Most impressive.
The really important detail is that you bought a top frame, and you say that the rest of the kit is nothing really special, yet it actually is. You did great work. Don't change a thing, you have a lovely machine there. Enjoy it for all that it is and means.
Thanks for the post.

Nice bike...specially for 14/15! I had to paint an imposter, because I couldn't afford anything with a Reynolds decal on it!
Just a question...not being familiar with those brakes, but isn't the rear brake mounted backwards??? |

I often get the same question about the back brakes on my 1982 Oval CX Colnago when I take it out for a spin. But every Oval CX has the brakes this way. I guess another quirk of the era, all doing something different to get a (market) edge?
Keep at it.

it is mounted backwards. it was the kool thing to do back then... i also put a stupid "RAD" sticker" on the back of the seat tube. |
