Any of our esteemed California Gitane fans planning on attending the Tour of California? I've never had the opportunity to attend a pro race - let alone a big one and would love a first hand account.

Scott

I wasn't paying any attention to the schedule. Today was cold and rainy so I stayed home. I could have easily seen the stage 2 finish. Embarassed

My chiropractor is working for Team OUCH during the Tour of California. He specializes in sports medicine and massage.

Hurry back doc, my neck needs you... Crying or Very sad

Chas.

Have a great time if you go. It's looking like another great event.

Scott, hopefully you'll have the chance to visit a Pro Tour event one day. They really are quite special.

Paul, I really hope that Lance's and his team's bike are returned. The good thing is that the word is out around the world.

Chas, I hope the neck's OK.

Tim

Thanks Tim. It's on my "bucket list". I had a friend attend the Tour de France last year and was on Alpe d'Huez for his 40th birthday and rode the mountain the next day. That would be a dream come true.

Thanks to You Tube I can see a lot these days. My problem is growing up in a rural area where there was no organized racing and then starting a family. I live vicariously through others.

They should be looking for a cycle courier riding it as a bad fixed conversion, spoked rear wheel with beer coasters for spoke cards, Hed 3 front wheel, and chopped off MTB riser bars with hot pink grips. Razz

Scott, I hope you'll get the chance at some point. Alpe d'Huez is a wonderful experience. I've been a few times for the Tour but never ridden. On Tour day the climb is crazy but wonderful at the same time. A superb experience. The equivalent, perhaps, of the Super Bowl or the FA Cup for us cycling fans.

Paul, Oh! They're such historical pieces. I really hope they get returned.

Tim

It looks like Solvang is a go. I will be there...hope to be on the nasty hill on the turnaround. I watched from the village last time....

If I go on Sunday, which I most likely will, I will bring my Gitane flag and run alongside the leaders and peleton on the mtn. Should be able to get on TV that way.... Maybe I will wear a Systeme U jacket or jersey???

There you go, Stephan, make a statement to CycleEurope. Maybe you should have one of your modern Gitane's with you. Smile

Way to go Sandman! Please, somebody tape it and put it up on youtube so I can see.

Then we have to wait till July and see if Nicolas can go one better by painting Greg, Laurent, and Bernard's names on the road and get that on TV.

Change of plans...going up Friday to Solvang to watch the ITT. Bringing flags at that point. On Sunday, I am riding up Mt. Palomar with some friends, watching the race, and then riding back down.... I am going to try to pack the flag, but we'll see. I am taping both days, so hopefully I'll make it on TV with something that says "Gitane."

We were literally right there where that nut was running by. I just got back from Palomar Mtn. today. I brought the Gitane flag...but it didn't get on TV. I was at the summit of Mt Palomar...rode it this morning. What a b*tch of a climb! HC!

Sorry, I won't.

U2 play Paris at the exact same dates the Tour passes by Saint Girons where we go in the summer...it was a tough choice but U2 is only every 4 years...
