Yep, you're spot on. Lucky the drug testing at the Worlds is done seriously, unlike at the Vuelta Twisted Evil

He was obviously very confident in his own legs when he went across to the break before the final climb.

At least now he has something with ehich he can negotiate a contract for next year.

I didn't watch it, but from what I read, his win was very convincing. Best of all, he beat the crap out of a bunch of Spaniards!

Yes, I'm sure it was a sweet victory for Cadel over Valverde & Sanchez who were both in the final selection of 9 riders before the final climb.

Armstrong is "taking" Contador next year in the TdF. I will bet Contador gets busted next year....

OK Wisey, here is a prime example of what bugs me about Cadel Evans:

He wins the Worlds. Everyone knows that cycling isn't "the big sport" in Australia, just like it isn't the big sport in the USA. But instead of being positive about things, he says this:

"In my country there was no excitement about my title. There isn't such a great cycling culture there as in Belgium, but it is slowly making an impact."

"No excitement"? What did he expect? Evans should stop whining about everything, and get on with it. I am not sure if you are reading this the same way I am, but this type of stuff kind of bugs me.... (maybe I am reading this wrong, though)

I agree totally that he could try to be more of a glass half full kinda guy......

Having said that, despite the great PR stuff you see from the Tour Down Under, cyclists are treated pretty badly here. It's quite normal to sit at the lunch table at work an listen to someone rant about f***ing cyclists who should be on the f***ing footpath etc. I know we are not unique in that respect, but I have been told by some ex-pros that riding here in Aust is even worse than in the USA, which in turn is bad compared with most of Europe.

But I think Cadel's comments stem from the fact that he isn't in the club. Aust has a little club abong it's pro's and if you're not in it, then you are a real outsider. The power brokers of the club are guys like O'Grady, McGee and old Neil Stephens. Cadel only gets a ride at the Worlds and Olympics because they can't leave him out. The rumours about the team ignoring Cadel and working primarily for Gerrans are probably not baseless. Despite the fact that Cadel is our best ever rider, the others get all the glory back home. I don't think Aust is home for Cadel anymore.

Perhaps it's all a little bit Jaques-esque. He just wants to be loved by his public but he has a distant sort of personality that doesn't engender that adoration.

Perhaps this is getting far too deep, and it's time to go for a ride...... Wink
