50€ is about $67.50 USD.
Buy the frame and sell it to me for 70€ plus shipping costs!
(achetez l'cadre et vendez-la à moi pour 70€ plus les coûts d'expédition aux Etats-Unis) |

Chas.,
I'm curious. Have you mellowed? Does "I hate Purple" now only refer to what you wear and not what you ride?
Jay "still looking for a Purple TdF" |

Jay,
It's not purple... it's maroon and red fade on my 1988 non-Gitane Colnago Technos!
This is purple!
... and I still hate purple!
BTW, I haven't had the Colnago out in over a year! Most of my miles last year were on my Gitanes! |

NICE! That is a SWEET frameset! To have the Gitane symbol pressed into the seat stay caps is REALLY NICE!
You are one lucky guy...I love the color as well. |

Je le veux! Je le veux beaucoup!
Men sweat and women blush!
Dogs drool... I on the other hand salivate!
The 1974-75 decals on this frame along with the fancy seat stay caps would suggest that it's an Olympic/Super Olympic model or possibly a Champion Du Monde frame from those years.
Like in the early 70s TdF/SC discussion, the length of the steering tube will determine the model.
Champion Du Monde models like TdFs used Stronglight P3 headsets with a 33mm stack height while the Super Olympic/Olympic bikes had Campagnolo headsets with a ~41mm stack height.
One other possibility, it could also be a 1976 Tour de France (or Champion Du Monde) with earlier decals plus the willow leaf seat stay caps and Huret Honeycomb dropouts instead of Campys.
The indicator for this is the Reynolds 531 decal with the Ti logo on the lower left hand corner. Reynolds didn't start adding that feature until maybe late 1975 or early 1976???
1976 TdF with willow leaf seat stay caps and Campy dropout (Jay's splendid 1976 TdF doesn't have either of those features).

Guesstimating is clear as mud eh?
The picture below shows an easy way to check the stack height length of the fork and frame.
The steerer on this frame sticks out about 40mm. It was made for a Campy headset (The ruler is 2mm longer than the scale so add 2mm to the measurement to get 40mm). |
