The forks appear to be bent back a little and the steerer too. Look at the top of the fork crown compared to the bottom headset race. Comes from running into the backs of cars.

I'll bite my tongue about most fixie riders not knowing their ... from a hole in the ground!

Poor thing. Needs to be bought, scrubbed, and put in proper "clothing".

you are right chas something definetly dodgy about those forks
maybe the bold paint scheme distracts your attention!
hundreds of these "fixie" "fixer" "messenger" bikes on e bay nowadays
last time i rode fixed was years ago on an old claude butler track or should i say road/path frame. had a nasty experience with a faulty seat post snapping resulting in a head first over the bars scenario luckily only my pride was dented. but i havent bothered since with a fixed wheel
much prefer the dancing chain

Fixie fashion. Slow up hills, slow down hills.

The most irritating thing is that they are so proud of their vandalism. Crying or Very sad

I saw a '74 Mercier that had been inherited from the young guy's father, who was, in his time, a good racer. Not a scrap of homage to the bike's heritage.

It seems that this bent fork is a trend. I've seen several fixed gears in Lyon and Paris with this configuration, but it doesn't surprise me as anything goes with these bikes. Did you see Paul Smith's pink bike in the new issue of Pro Cycling?

Stupidity...

There's an expression in English " Handsome is as handsome does..."

In other words, if an attractive person has no other redeeming qualities besides their looks... Rolling Eyes

The steering tube is bent inside the head tube which will put uneven forces on the headset bearings. They will be tight in the rear and loose in the front side of the bearing cones.

This along with the fork rake which has had much of the bend removed from a front end collision will contribute to unsafe steering and handling.

In the words of Forrest Gump: "Stupid is as stupid does."

By the 1980s most of the technology behind bicycles had been fine tuned over the previous 100 years. Since then, almost all of the changes have been in material technology: the increased use of aluminum, titanium, CFRP - Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic and so on.

Changes in the frames and components have been made to compensate for short comings in those materials or to take advantage of the beneficial features of those materials.

The problem is that many fixie riders have no idea about how bike technology developed. For them, "Image is everything". Mad
