This is why bikes in France are only worth stripping down for parts. Not to bad for 8$ each. Dan

Dan,
At about $14.00 each, with US$ conversion, you could make a GREAT profit selling the parts on eBay and then selling the frame sets.

Jay, you are right but it takes time. There are some people in france that have access to nos from old bike shops and this is really good business.

See the link below which is my favorite source:

This person has usually only nos parts on e bay and has supplied me recently with a P3 headset and onespeed freewheel both new and much less than the bid price on e bay.

I have called him several times and he says he just loves bike pieces and has sources/stocks of bike stuff that he collects.

Dan,
I have dealt with Gilbert many times. He had a Web Site for awhile but took it down. He said it was too much trouble and easier to just do eBay. Always quality used and NOS parts.

Jay

I agree with lofter - just more reasons to go to France for a couple of weeks and fill a container full of Gitane's and ship them back to the US. Smile
