Seeing as the Critérium du Dauphiné is on at the moment I can show you one of my favourite bits of cycling retro. Here is the story of how Raphael Geminiani talked French hero; Jacques Anquetil into winning the Dauphiné and then the (now defunct) Bordeaux-Paris back to back. The best bit is Raphael Geminiani’s description of the derny bikes…classic!
